sometimesdomesticated I’ve always hated omelettes, they have always reminded me of sponges. but as a girl growing up in a very traditional kolkata home, there is something about moglai paratha (think indian french toast) that puts a smile on my face and takes me back to when i was five, when this is the only thing i would eat. obviously, i don’t have time to make parathas from scratch so this is a working girls version. it literally takes less than 10 mins to make and is healthy and filling: ingredients: 2 eggs, a stick of green onion (scallion), a handful of cilantro/coriander, salt to taste, pepper, 1 whole wheat naan bread (i get mine from whole foods), jalepeno or green chili ๐ŸŒถ (optional) 1) take one tsp of oil and put in the a pan, let it heat. how you would start off making eggs in general... 2) in the meantime, whisk the egg, onion, cilantro, salt, pepper, and chilies together. add a tsp of milk for a fluffier egg. totally optional! 3)put in the egg mixture in the hot pan, and immediately put the naan on top. the egg acts like a glue to make the naan stick. 4) when the egg looks ready flip it. 5) you want the naan to get crispy so make sure to cook both egg side up and naan side up. and that’s it! the all time best way to eat this is with maggi sauce, and a small salad composed of cucumber and tomato, but my husband liked this raw onions and yogurt, so that’s how i served it today! such an easy meal served in literally minutes. #paratha #kolkatastreetfood #moglaiporota #nostalgic #westbengali #eggs #cilantro #wholewheatnaan #wholefoodsmarket #dhania #mirchi #cilantro #easymeal #workingdesigirl #yum #lessthan10mins #maggisauce #desifrenchtoast #deem #deemporota

mithili_mallya Sunday special menu fr dinner.. whole wheat garlic butter naan (made on tawa), tawa paneer mushroom n salad...hv used wholewheat flour instead of maida to mk the naans fr a healthier version ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.. fr the wholowheat naan made on tawa : in a small bowl tk about 1/2 cup water n add 1tbsp sugar n 1/2tbsp yeast n mix it well n cover n keep for it to prove (about 10 mins).. thn tk a bowl n add about 2 cups of wholewheat flour/atta, salt as per taste n mix n add the proven yeast n water as required n mk a soft dough. add little oil n knead well continuously fr about 5 mins.thn apply oil to the dough n the sides of the bowl n keep this dough inside n cover n keep fr about an hour fr the dough to rise. later remove the dough n mk small balls n flatten them n roll like long chapatis n apply sum chpd coriander leaves m sesame seeds n press well n the naan. reverse the naan n apply water on bck side of it n plce it on hot tawa with the wet side down n press well the naan on tawa. now reverse the tawa on gas flame n roast the naan well all sides by moving the tawa bck n forth. once well roasted remove from tawa n put it on a plate n apply butter on naan n serve hot.(can serve without butter. i hv applied garlic butter from #amulbutter fr a more yummy taste๐Ÿ˜ƒ..) โคtawa panner mushroom : chp about 250gm mushrooms. chop 200gm paneer n roast n keep aside. soak about18-20 cashews,about 10-12 almonds n 1 tbsp poppy seeds/khuskhus fr about an hour. slice about 2 onions n saute till caramelised. nw grind these onions aling with soaked ingredients n mk a smooth paste. heat oil on a tawa n add about tsp ginger n 1 tsp garlic paste n saute. thn add the ground paste n stir fry. thn add about 1/2 cup curds n mix well. add about 1/2tsp turmeric/ haldi pwdr,1tsp red chilli pwdr n stir fry well. add the chpd mushrooms, salt n cook fr about 10 mins or till mushrooms gt cookd. the finally add roasted paneer n mix well n bring to a boil n turn off the flame n remove n serve. #sundayspecial #wholewheatnaan #indianflatbread #homemade #indianfood #northindianfood #instalikers #foodporn #igerspicoftheday #indianfoodbloggers #foodstyling #foodieforlife #foodiegram #likefrlike #vegetarianrecipes

nofrillcook Caution: longish post (u may want to skip it)๐Ÿ˜ฌ .. returning to the grind after a refreshing weekend, not๐Ÿ˜€ cause we are travelling this week down south to god's own country ๐Ÿ’ƒand this breakfast is more of a clean out the fridge attempt ๐Ÿ˜Œ. roasted chickpeas, crispy carrots and sauteed spinach, tzatziki made of homemade hung curd (too delicious!) and those oh my god super soft spongy whole wheat naan! all of this with generous sprinkling of roasted melon and flax seeds ๐Ÿ˜‡. ... to be honest, but i am still thinking about time spent yesterday @thechikootreeproject! what a cozy comfortable, casual, kid friendly place with a personal touch, it is! and, to top it all they have a very carefully curated menu that also includes tibetan momos and thukpa ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜€ ( bus aur kya chahiye ab is pahadi ko ๐Ÿ˜)!! ... ... well, we were there for 'vietnamese pop up' by @peckishmumbai and i also, secretly wished if i could meet aparna ๐Ÿ˜Œ but not only did i meet her, we ended up taking so much in that short time, it was an instant connection ๐Ÿ’ž! the food was abviously great and we loved the 'vietnamese cold coffee! ... ... above all, the food personally was a validation moment for me since i have cooked three of the dishes myself ( rice paper rolls, banh mi sandwich & veg pho) having never tasted them before! although it was aparna's her own take on vietnamese food, i still came back with lot more understanding of how different flavors work! to be able to meet such warm hearted, affable, food loving people through instagram is a bit surreal for me ๐Ÿ˜. i am so thankful to trupti and aparna for this wonderful food and time ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜!! .... i cannot help but think of this quote by julia child right now 'people who love to eat are the best people' ๐Ÿ˜Š to all the foodie instagramers, big cheers ๐Ÿป ... ... p.s more on yesterday's good time in stories๐Ÿค— .. #happybreakfast #healthybreakfast #tzatzikisauce #tzatziki #wholewheatnaan #roastedcarrots #roastedchickpeas #healthyfood #homemade #indianfoodie #goanfoodie #hinachalifoodie #eatyourvegetable #pahadi #himachali
