kwande83 @regrann from @natgeo: photo by @cristinamittermeier // this southern ground hornbill was doing something super interesting. i watched him as he walked across the wet savannah hoarding frogs in its beak. every few steps he would stop, put down the frogs, gobble up a bug and then he would pick his bundle of frogs back up. after a while i figured out he was taking his leggy loot back to his nest where his mate was probably waiting with a couple of chicks. under the heavy rains of the african winter, he eventually disappeared into the forest. #follow at @cristinamittermeier for more images and stories from africa and the world, #turningthetide with @sea_legacy @paulnicklen @epixnix @lnixpix

clau_di_mar Borá lá fazer de 2018 um excelente ano! vamos acabar com a destruição do nosso lindo planeta e parar de acreditar em todas as mentiras. todos nós temos poder de escolha. podemos escolher fazer parte da solução ou do problema. estas escolhas são feitas diariamente, com a comida que comemos, com as coisas que compramos, o transporte que escolhemos, a electricidade que usamos e com a mensagem que espalhamos! let’s do 2018 right! let’s stop destroying our beautiful planet and believe all the lies. we all have a choice. a choice to be a part of the solution or the problem. we make those chooses everyday, with food we eat, things we buy, transport we choose, electricity we use and the message we spread! #turningthetide #saveourearth #climatechange

lizmarie1984 #repost @sea_legacy (@get_repost) ・・・ photo by @simonagerphotography // an old sailors' saying - "below 40 degrees south there is no law/below 50 degrees south there is no god" - gives some idea of the awe and dread these waters have inspired. these latitudes, known as the roaring forties, the furious fifties and the screaming sixties, are subject to incessant and ferocious storms, waves which tower to the size of a six storey building, and the ever-present danger of icebergs. all this on seas that are as far away from land as it's possible to get (1,660 miles at its furthest) which ensures that should any sailor get into difficulties, rescue is almost impossible. #southernocean #roaring40s #furious50s #screaming60s #seashepherdglobal #mybobbarker #antarctica #sealegacy #turningthetide #bravesailors #photooftheday #fuerza #oceano

follow.me.through.the.lens Salmon making it's way upstream 🐟 however in recent years the intensive fish farming has led to an increase in fish-lice; being parasitic in nature they can greatly affect the swimming capability of the salmon, especially the young. this is also thought to be a contributing factor in the reduction in salmon returning to spawning sites. do what you can; opt sustainable and line caught. __________________________ #turningthetide #intensivefarming #fishlice #fishfarming #salmon #salmonswimmingupstream #fish #overfishing #parasites #sustainablefishing #linecaught #cefas #underwater

nomadicfare May you touch fireflies and stars, swim with sea turtles and believe in mermaids. . a big reason i chose to go to bonaire was for her leading efforts in nature conservation. through protected national parks, coral restoration projects with @harbourvillagebonaire and organizations like @bonaireturtles that care for endangered sea turtles, they're showing it's possible to control the development of an island without harming its natural wonders. . doing around 30 dives during my 2 weeks on the island, i might secretly be a mermaid! thank you @bonairetourism for leading by example. . #nomadicfareinbonaire @sea_legacy #turningthetide @passionpassport #ppwilderness

pekyamans . @cristinamittermeier - yes they are big, and when one of these leviathans decides to use its fluke to call some attention, it can definitely put up a show. scientists don’t know if the persistent splashing of a whale’s tail is used as a form of communication, a playful gesture, a territorial or courtship display or just for fun. sometimes i think they might be trying to scratch and itch! the truth of the matter is we know very little about these intelligent, sociable and amazing animals with whom we share our ocean planet. #turningthetide with @sea_legacy with @paulnicklen @_tomconlin @epixnix @lnixpix @_aquaticadventures #ocean #ballena #underwater #photogrqaphy #mar - #regrann
