A beautiful day out with @oneoceandiving capturing the last frames for a professional photography package before heading back to shore aboard the #koakai. for a lot of people interacting with a shark at their level can be a powerful and profound experience. connecting with these animals in their natural environment often moves people from disinterested appreciation to active participation. without connection, nature is only defined by how it can be used by humans rather than being appreciated it for its intrinsic value. we live in a world where sharks, among other wildlife, are expected to earn the privilege of not being fished or hunted to the point of near extinction and their fundamental right to exist is being challenged. thankfully, perceptions are evolving rapidly and sharks are increasingly being recognized for their ecological and economic value in the form of ecotourism #worthmorealive i’m thankful to play a role in a program that allows people to experience sharks firsthand while empowering them with knowledge and resources to give back to these incredible animals.
Finally got around to editing some photos from madagascar last october. here's whale shark scientist stella diamant (@_stelladiamant) from @madagascarwhalesharks with one of her bffs. note stella's badass whale shark leggings by @waterlust ☺️. each of these leggings are made from 10 recycled plastic bottles, and 10% of profits go to our whale shark research and conservation work at @marinemegafauna. they help solve the ocean's plastic problem, protect whale sharks, and look awesome. www.waterlust.com#winning
